Yesterday I rode 350 kms in the afternoon because I had read about the Kobilarna Lipica – Lipica Stud Farm in Slovenia, and it was too close not to go. This is the original stud farm of the Lipizzaner breed.
I grew up on and around horses, my mother fond of saying that she rode all through her pregnancy with me and then I started riding horses as soon as I could sit up. I lived with a beloved big white horse for 15 of my adult years and she was the love of my life. When Perunia died I started traveling. So many happy tears shed yesterday watching these magnificent animals. This was just a practice session with the young stallions. Today I will go back and see a performance with the older, fully trained stallions.
