  • Destination: ,
  • Duration: 10 days
  • Starts: 01/01/2023

Our Pacific Northwest Teaching Tour encompasses four different states, several different ecosystems, and such varied terrain you’ll be glad you joined. Plus, the motorcycle roads are world-class in this corner of the country. We see majestic Mts. Rainier and St. Helens, travel over the Bridge of the Gods, and ride more than 2,000 miles in this 10-day tour.

Day 1

Meet in Bend, OR: Welcome Dinner

We gather our first day together at the Old St. Francis School, a 1936 Catholic schoolhouse which has been turned into a hotel complete with classrooms-turned-lodging rooms, a pub, brewery, a movie theater, and a fantastic soaking pool. Our welcome dinner is early because tomorrow we ride!

Day 2

Overnight in Cascade Locks, OR

Our first day riding together, today’s route encompasses high desert, plateaus with deep canyons and the fabulous Columbia River Gorge.  Today we also have an optional route which traverses the backbone of the Cascade Mountains.  We stop for the day in Cascade Locks, heart of the Columbia River Gorge.

Day 3

Overnight in Issaquah, WA

Today is a long yet spectacular day, riding some of the best motorcycle roads the Pacific Northwest has to offer.  Traveling through Mount Rainier National Park, you’ll get a spectacular day of motorcycle touring with incredible views of these iconic peaks of the Pacific Northwest.

Day 4

Overnight in Walla Walla, WA

Today we skirt Mt. Rainier to the north and ride through Washington’s wine country. We spend the night in one of Washington’s most popular wine cities, Walla Walla.

Day 5

Overnight in Missoula, MT

What a great ride we have today! We start out in bucolic farmlands then ride Lolo Pass, one of the most popular motorcycle roads in the US–and a personal favorite of Alisa’s!

Day 6

Second Night in Missoula, MT

Today can be a leisure day exploring downtown Missoula (feel free to tour the Missoula Art Museum or visit the Carousel for Missoula, a merry-go-round with handcrafted wooden ponies), or gear up for a scenic ride around Seeley Lake.

Day 7

Overnight in Stanley, ID

Leaving Missoula we ride the valley paralleling both the Bitterroot Mountains and the Bitterroot River.  We cross back into Idaho again after climbing the mountains over Lost Trail Pass, then join up with the Salmon River Scenic Byway, which we follow into Stanley.

Day 8

Overnight in Baker City, OR

Today we explore a variety of terrain as we head back in to Oregon.  The scenery is spectacular as we ride the Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway, Wildlife Canyon Scenic Byway, and the Payette River National Scenic Byway.

Day 9

Final night in Bend, OR

On this, our last day riding together, we experience some of the best motorcycling roads Eastern Oregon has to offer. Riding some remote mountain roads in the morning, later in the day we visit the John Day Fossil Beds, arriving back to the converted schoolhouse in Bend for our last evening together. Dinner on campus at the Old St. Francis School.

Day 10

Breakfast – then Goodbye

We start the day with a great breakfast, then go our separate ways. Hey, why not stay in Bend an extra day or two? There’s so much to do and see here we thought it was the perfect place to begin and end our tour.
